Conservatives warn of '£58bn black hole' in Labour spending plans

Conservatives warn of '£58bn black hole' in Labour spending plans

During an interview at a General Election campaign event in Derby, Mr McDonnell said the party's choice of seats to campaign in was not based on Labour candidates wanting to distance themselves from Mr Corbyn.

The General Election could determine if the United Kingdom continues to exist, Kezia Dugdale warned, as she urged people in Scotland to reject the nationalist politics offered by the SNP and the Conservatives. Chancellor of Exchequer, Philip Hammond has today (17/5/17), responded to labour's spending plans claiming that they did not make sense and the party's plans will leave a fiscal gap of £58 billion.

She told BBC Radio Scotland: "I hope he is wrong, I want to see a Labour government across the whole of the United Kingdom, that's what I'm spending every waking moment of my day campaigning for".

Ms Dugdale added that "in places like East Lothian, Midlothian and Inverclyde, Labour beat the SNP at the council elections, with the Tories a distant third" and said in constituencies such as East Renfrewshire and Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill, Labour were best-placed to oust the nationalists. "I think it would be extraordinary", McCluskey was quoted as saying.

The £100 savings on water bills would come from stopping the extraction of dividends to shareholders, which have averaged £1.8bn per year during the last 10 years, and reducing interest payments on water company debt by £500m per year.

Ms Dugdale was speaking ahead of a major campaign speech in Glasgow, where she will appeal to voters in Scotland who backed remaining in the European Union and the UK.

"If Labour's heading for the kind of defeat that some of the polls suggest, they're going to descend into a period of civil war and bloodletting".

Scottish Labour believes that together we're stronger.

"Who just want us to be getting on with the job of governing and changing people's lives".

"As a Labour Party, we put ourselves on the side of the vast majority of people across our country who rejected a hard Brexit and rejected independence".
