Israeli intelligence agents furious with Trump

The relationship "is unprecedented in its contribution to our strength".

The officials said they were not aware of any Israeli agents in the field operating in the Islamic State, and thus the likelihood that Israel supplied the information was low, they told Al-Jazeera Thursday.

The United States intelligence community is infiltrated by spies from other countries and emphasis on US President Donald Trump's disclosure of what is said to be highly classified information is because the pro-Israeli and anti-Russian media "sensationalizes" that, says a former American intelligence linguist.

It said that Trump told Lavrov about a specific Islamic State group bomb threat.

The report cites assessments by current and former Jordanian intelligence officials that Israel is unlikely to have been able to successfully position a mole within the jihadist terror group, and that the spy is far more likely to be a Jordanian asset.

Israel and the US have a long history of intelligence sharing, which has become increasingly important in the face of the threats posed by Iran and ISIS.

Trump shared information about "terrorism and airline flight safety" in the Oval Office meeting. The report, said ABC, is based on conversations with current and former American senior intelligence officials.

Subsequent reports by ABC News citing current and former USA officials, and BuzzFeed citing two Israeli intelligence officers, apparently confirmed the report indicating that Israel had indeed shared specific intel with the U.S. regarding an Islamic State plot to smuggle explosive-laden laptops onto planes. "This is our greatest ally, and we share with them heaps of super-secret information".

Debate over whether the United States should move its Israel embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem again flared, while a separate row over whether the city's Western Wall - the holiest site where Jews can pray - belongs to Israel also caused waves.

Neither Israel nor the USA publicized the call, during which the two leaders apparently only discussed Trump's upcoming visit to the Middle East.
