New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 4 wickets

Hamish Bennett has spearheaded a strong bowling performance for the Black Caps on his fleeting return from the worldwide wilderness.

New Zealand now sit on top of the three-team league, having beaten Ireland convincingly on Sunday.

Fast bowler Hamish Bennett relished a successful return to worldwide cricket, after spearheading New Zealand to a comfortable four-wicket win over Bangladesh in Wednesday's ODI tri-series fixture in Dublin.

The 30-year-old has not been named in New Zealand's squad for the Champions Trophy in the United Kingdom. "It was good to get out there".

"You get lucky at the death sometimes - it goes one way or the another", Bennett said. It was just about trying to contain them and get them to do something silly.

Hamish Bennett was playing his first game for New Zealand since the start of 2014.

After restricting Bangladesh to 257/9, half centuries from stand in captain Tom Latham and man of the match Jimmy Neesham helped the Black Caps reach their target with 15 balls to spare.

When he was dismissed in the 21st over, they were already scoring at the required run-rate and although Ross Taylor was leg before to Mustafizur Rahman for 25, Broom and Neesham regained the momentum which put them firmly in control. But both players felt their team's fielding effort was not up to scratch - the Bangladesh innings featured several misfields with players letting balls through or diving over them, overthrows that went to the boundary, and dropped chances - which left them chasing more than they should have been.

Now let us look at the points table of the tournament.
