John Wall, Wizards blow out Celtics again, series tied

John Wall, Wizards blow out Celtics again, series tied

As much as Isaiah Thomas was bothered by the way Game 4 was officiated, he readily admitted the 26-0 run by Washington was the difference in the game.

Washington Wizards guard John Wall (2) fights for a loose ball against Boston Celtics players during the first half in Game 3 of a second-round NBA playoff series basketball game, Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Washington.

Unlike in Games 1 and 2, when Washington let 16-0 and 16-8 leads slip away, the defense was there on Thomas and the rest of his teammates to limit the Celtics to 35.1 percent shooting. Olynyk knocked him to the ground on an illegal screen, and Oubre leapt to his feet, sprinted at him and bowled him over.

"I guess just two teams that really don't like each other", Wall said of the mutual intensity.

Thomas's comments run the risk of a fine from the league office.

"Two stretches killed us on this trip to D.C.", Boston coach Brad Stevens said.

Amir Johnson started the second half and gave the Celtics an immediate boost by scoring the first five points, putting the Celtics ahead, 53-48.

Hard fouls were part of the first two games of the series, but nothing like Game 3, as Celtics center Al Horford described the Wizards play as "the way that they junk the game up a little bit". But as the Wizards tore the game open in the second half, Thomas attempted just three shots- missing two of them - in 12 minutes of floor time.? "They set the tone". Needless to say, those five points could swing a game and a playoff series. The Wizards have won 40+ games in four straight seasons. You just go forward and play the game. The Celtics still hold s 2-1 lead in the series and are 2-1 against the spread in the series.

John Wall started slow in Sunday's Game 4, but exploded for 27 points and 12 assists to lead the Wizards to a 121-102 win at Verizon Center. "The screens we've been setting, especially in the frontcourt, for the most part I feel like they've been legal". It wasn't smooth sailing all the way as Washington reserve forward Kelly Oubre was ejected for his altercation with Boston forward Kelly Olynyk and will serve a Game 4 suspension. Reacting to the aggressive hit, Oubre charged and shoved the big man to the ground while also making contact with an official. So I think it got to be called differently.

It didn't help that things got out of hand early. "So I think that has to change". "That's all it was", said Bradley Beal, who had a game-high 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting and spent a lot of time on the 5-9 Thomas.

There were eight technical fouls and three ejections total.

The Celtics were called for 25 fouls compared to 22 for the Wizards.

Then, later in January, Wall told the Wizards they should all dress in black for their next matchup against the Celtics because it was their funeral.

The injury came as the Spurs are locked in a second-round battle with Houston, a series tied 1-1 with Game 3 on the road coming up today.

The Celtics still have the advantage in the series with Games 5 and 7 being at home, but the team will need to turn things around before Wednesday's battle.
