Authorities have said they're looking into the relationship between Hartless and Medrano, who had obtained civil protection orders against him in connection with domestic violence cases.

Twenty-one of the weapons found at the Utica home were shotguns and 20 were rifles, according to search warrants obtained by the Newark Advocate.

Hartless then took his own life.

During the attack, Hartless fatally shot Kirkersville Police Chief Steven Eric DiSario with a shotgun.

The guns were found Friday at the home of 43-year-old Thomas Hartless by sheriff's deputies and investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation hours after the killings at a nursing home in Kirkersville, The Newark Advocate reported. That case was under review May 12, for the filing of formal charges, when Hartless killed her and the others.

The judge presiding over the case has acknowledged that "mistakes were made" and said he will review how similar cases are handled in the future.

The family of a 48-year-old mom of five children is in mourning this Mother's Day weekend, after her slaying at the OH nursing home where she was a nurse's aide.

The coroner says 46-year-old nurse Marlina Medrano was killed in the center's nursing station and died of multiple gunshots from both a handgun and shotgun. He admitted in court that beat up the woman, even that he tried to run over her with his vehicle as she tried to run from him.

Funerals have been scheduled Friday for Medrano and Saturday for DiSario.
