Tom Hardy To Star In Ruben Fleischer's 'Venom' Film

Tom Hardy To Star In Ruben Fleischer's 'Venom' Film

The studio announced the casting in a black-and-white image on social media Friday with the actor donning a T-shirt emblazoned with the character's pearly whites. We may have to wait until October 5th, 2018, when Venom hits theaters, for many of our questions to be answered. The first Venom was Eddie Brock, a constant thorn in the side of Peter Parker and likely to be the character portrayed by Tom Hardy.

Venom was first created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck in 1988, and quickly became one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Comics universe.

What do you think of Tom Hardy as Venom?

Spider-Man: Homecoming now has a 4.10 out of 5 ComicBook User Anticipation Rating, making it the eighth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. So, clearly there's some animosity there. But with the advent of Tom Holland, the success of his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, as well as the off-scale anticipation for new solo flick Spider-Man: Homecoming - Sony are certainly striking while the iron's hot. No one knows if these villain films will crossover, or just tell one-off comic book stories; what is nearly certain, however, is that Spider-Man won't be part of them.

At the very least, there's no way this Venom could be worse than the one seen in Spider-Man 3, where a woefully miscast Topher Grace took on the part.

The site also states that Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer will be directing. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner will write the script and production begins in the fall. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce with Amy Pascal. Other projects being developed by the studio include a film including Black Cat and Silver Sable.
