Tottenham were ideal against Manchester United - Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino's side played their final game at White Hart Lane on Sunday, beating Manchester United 2-1 to wrap up second place in the Premier League.

"What a way to finish".

Many observers feel Tottenham will not be as strong next season due to leaving their home stadium, with Wembley a far cry from the tight pitch and intense atmosphere of White Hart Lane, where they dropped just four points in 2016-17. "We've been third and second so hopefully we can be first next year".

They have won just once in five European and FA Cap ties at Wembley this season but Alli said: "We hear about it not being good for us but that was down to Champions League performances". It is the last Spurs match at the old stadium, a new stadium is being built on the site.

"We were simply trying to find balance, even with some players not in their best position, trying to organise a team to give minutes to people who need minutes and protecting people who needed to be protected".

"It is also a sombre occasion upon which the club formally hands over its home of 118 years - one filled with so many special memories". We had to do it because, if I have Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Ibrahimovic, Tim Fosu-Mensah, if I have these guys, I can rotate, I can go for every match.

"This is our last time at the Lane and the day on which we shall bid our grand old home a fond farewell".

The Blues clinched their fifth Premier League - and sixth overall - title on Friday night following a 1-0 win at West Brom, with closest challengers Spurs opening the door for them by losing to West Ham last week.

Victor Wanyama headed the hosts into an early lead and Kane added a second after the break, before Wayne Rooney scored the last goal at the ground. "We've got to make sure next season it's going to be our home for the year so we've got to make it as much of a fortress as White Hart Lane has been".

"I am not upset because we had to make that decision", he said. "Because with the training ground, the new facilities and the new stadium will put the team and the club in the last level in Europe", Pochettino said.
