Arsene Wenger Offers Clue On Timing of Arsenal Future Statement

Arsene Wenger Offers Clue On Timing of Arsenal Future Statement

The Gunners have been in great form winning six out of their last seven games but whether they finish on the top four or not is out of their hands.

Wenger said at his Friday morning press conference that former players did not have a "divine right" to return to the club in coaching roles, which should be awarded on merit.

The Arsenal manager said: "There are many aspects to be discussed at a board meeting".

Despite still being set on leaving the club, Alexis has claimed he does support manager Arsene Wenger, who's come in for increasing criticism this season from the fans - and finishing fifth would be the final straw for them. At the moment I think we should focus on the short-term; on the last game and the cup final. Back in the day I said in an interview coaching wasn't Arsene's strong point.

Wenger already has enough on his plate trying to mastermind a 20th successive Champions League qualification against the odds. Chelsea and Tottenham are confirmed to finish first and second, leaving Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal to battle for third and fourth.

Everybody will be under scrutiny so you just want the teams like Everton to fight against us, Middlesbrough will fight against Liverpool, Watford will fight against City.

Arsenal's French manager Arsene Wenger folds his arms when the score was 0-0 during the English Premier League soccer match between Arsenal and Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium in London, Tuesday, May 16, 2017. If we win the game I will feel we have done the job. Adams wrote that Wenger "is essentially not a coach" and did not want an assistant around who would question his methods on the training ground.

Wenger still has not signed an extension and while he is widely expected to, he continued to insist that his only focus was on the next game.

Wenger said he was yet to make a decision on the availability of defender Laurent Koscielny, who missed the last game with an Achilles injury. And though I modified that in the final article, it didn't go down well.

'It all left me feeling that I would never get a chance in any capacity while Arsene was there. "For me it's a subject of no interest and so I would like to dedicate my time to something that is more interesting".

Asked if he was hurt by Adams' comments, Wenger said: "No". An Arsenal victory against Everton would seal a top four finish, but a 1-1 draw would leave both clubs tied on points, goal difference and goal scored, triggering the play-off.
