Trump tells Russians about firing Comey

Though James Comey, the FBI director that Trump fired last week, confirmed the existence of an investigation into Trump's campaign in March, the Justice Department declined to comment.

With the president departing on Friday afternoon for the first foreign visit of his presidency, focus was turning to the scope and nature of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the United States election and links between the president's election campaign team and the Kremlin.

The leak to the Times was particularly damaging since only a select group of people could have had access to the information about the May 10 Oval Office meeting with Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Washington Post is reporting that a current senior White House advisor is under scrutiny as part of an investigation into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. "He was insane, a real nut job".

It says the President then told Russia's foreign minister and ambassador that he "faced great pressure because of Russian Federation".

It quoted unnamed sources familiar with the investigation as saying it was someone "close to the president" but they would not identify them further.

Reports of a memo said to have been written by Comey details the former FBI director's discomfort during a meeting with the president in which he asked Comey to "let it go" in regards to the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. If that's the case, it's only a matter of time before subpoenas are issued and the entire administration adopts a bunker mentality.

"As the president has stated before, a thorough investigation will confirm that there was no collusion between the campaign and any foreign entity", Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, said in a statement in response to The Post's report.

Earlier this week, the Justice Department appointed former FBI director Robert Mueller to take over the federal investigation in an effort to re-establish independence from the White House. Like so many things coming out of the White House lately, this seems both sinister and utterly moronic.

This week, the Justice Department announced that former Federal Bureau of Investigation director Robert Mueller would serve as a special counsel to continue the probe into the Trump campaign and any possible ties to Russian Federation.

In the same meeting, Trump reportedly revealed classified intelligence to the Russian officials. The date has not yet been scheduled, but is expected to take place next month.
