Melania and Ivanka Trump Forego Headscarves in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, right, presents U.S. President Donald Trump with the Collar of Abdulaziz Al Saud Medal at the Royal Court in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 20, 2017.

After a royal banquet, Trump and the king were to have private talks and participate in a signing ceremony for a number of U.S. -Saudi agreements, including a$100 billion deal for Saudi Arabia to buy American arms.

As President Donald Trump celebrated what he called a "tremendous" first day in Saudi Arabia, his onetime campaign adviser and longtime confidante Roger Stone expressed nothing but aversion for the Gulf nation and parts of the President's trip. Trump is the only American president to make Saudi Arabia, or any majority Muslim country, his first stop overseas as president - a scheduling choice designed in part to show respect to the region after more than a year of harsh anti-Muslim campaign rhetoric. "Looking forward to the afternoon and evening ahead", he wrote. Trump reportedly told Russian officials that Comey was a "real nut job", and that he had fired him to ease the "great pressure" the Russia probe had put on him. As a candidate, he vowed to fix ties with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who clashed bitterly with former President Barack Obama over West Bank settlements and the Iran nuclear deal. In addition, Comey agreed to testify at an open hearing of the Senate intelligence committee in the near future, the panel said. Billboards featuring images of Trump and the king dotted the highways of Riyadh, emblazoned with the motto "Together we prevail".

Trump, surrounded by Saudi officials, bops back and forth with a smile on his face, while White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief economic adviser Gary Cohn appear more reserved in their moves.

"Many people are saying it was wonderful that Mrs. Obama refused to wear a scarf in Saudi Arabia, but they were insulted", Trump tweeted.

Trump is scheduled to leave Saudi Arabia, home to Mecca, the holiest site in Islam, early Monday to head to Israel.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson accompanied Trump and King Salman at the signing ceremony.

After an overnight flight, the president was greeted at the airport by King Salman, which was notable given that the monarch did not show up previous year to welcome President Barack Obama on his final visit to Saudi Arabia.

The arms deals included a Jane's catalog of military equipment, the State Department said: Tanks, artillery, counter-mortar radars, armored personnel carriers, helicopters, ships, patrol boats, aircraft and missile defenses.

On Sunday, Trump and the king were to join more than 50 regional leaders for meetings focused on combating the Islamic State group and other extremists.
