Sofia Coppola becomes second woman to win Cannes director prize

Joshua Jackson posted a sweet congratulatory message to his ex-girlfriend, Diane Kruger, following her Best Actress win at the Cannes Film Festival in France on Sunday.

"Only question is what took 'em so long!" the former Dawson's Creek star continued. "CONGRATULATIONS, Josh #dianekruger", he wrote.

Diane's ex-boyfriend Joshua Jackson, who she split from past year (16) after dating for a decade, was the first to congratulate her for scooping up the best actress honour.

"'In the Fade' is a German film that follows a Hamburg woman (Kruger), who seeks justice after her husband and son are murdered by a couple of Neo-Nazis".

Actress Diane Kruger may need to make room for a new tattoo after losing a bet with her In the Fade director.

After twelve days of the most extraordinary film premieres that for one moment were overshadowed with the grief for the most vicious terrorist attack in Manchester, the Cannes film festival came to an end with the award being given to Kruger for the Best Actress on the stage of the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

The blonde beauty has starred in a string of films and TV shows but her more mainstream roles include Inglourious Basterds and U.S. series The Bridge.

And it seems the duo are still on good terms 10-months after going their separate ways, even with both parties appearing to have moved on.

Her current boyfriend, actor Norman Reedus, also took to social media to coo about the actress' award, raving: "dianekruger Omg (oh my god)!"
