Tiger Woods Arrested on DUI Charges in South Florida

Tiger Woods Arrested on DUI Charges in South Florida

A spokesperson for the Jupiter Police Department said: He was arrested for suspicion of DUI at around 3am, and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.

TMZ reported on Monday that a police officer smelled alcohol on Woods' breath and that he refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

This is not the first time Woods has made headlines during incidents stemming from driving.

Woods, who is now sidelined from competition after having his fourth back surgery in April, said in a statement he took full responsibility for his actions and apologized to his family, friends and fans.

June 2008 - Woods wins the U.S. Open in a playoff at Torrey Pines for his 14th major, four short of the record held by Jack Nicklaus.

"I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again", he said.

"I want to thank my doctors for their great work and support throughout this process".

His most recent operation - his fourth since 2014 - was just more than a month ago when he underwent fusion surgery on his back.

He recently said he had no plans to retire from competitive golf. "I've been there myself". The report did not say who the witness was but said it was the same person who pulled Woods from the vehicle after the accident.

"When healed, I look forward to getting back to a normal life, playing with my kids, competing in professional golf and living without the pain I have been battling so long".

Woods has been one of the most profitable athletes in the world, becoming the 2nd best golfer of the PGA Tour of all time, and the 3rd for the European Tour.

"[The surgery gave me] instant nerve relief", Woods wrote on his website. It means more than you know.

"I haven't felt this good in years", he said in the statement. In November 2009, the golfer was taken to a hospital after he was injured in a auto accident in front of his Orlando, Florida, home. Woods admitted to infidelity, and even after trying to reconcile with his wife, they got a divorce in 2010.

Woods took a break from professional golf and later apologized for having extramarital affairs and for letting down both his fans and his family.

Woods later admitted to extra-marital affairs and made an apology in early 2010 in which he spoke of undergoing therapy, saying he was "far short of flawless".
