Trump says Jared Kushner is 'doing a great job'

A rattled White House braced Monday for a fresh wave of scrutiny in the ever-widening investigation into Russian election meddling, as President Donald Trump rallied behind his embattled son-in-law and top aide Jared Kushner.

"Jared is doing a great job for the country", Trump said in the statement. "I have total confidence in him". He is respected by virtually everyone and is working on programmes that will save our country billions of dollars.

But the reports of the investigation veering into the meeting between Kushner and Gorkov may suggest that the investigators remain skeptical, or unsatisfied, with the answers the Trump administration has provided.

The FBI is interested in the details of Kushner's meeting with Kislyak, a meeting that the White House first disclosed in March. National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster said that generally speaking, "we have back-channel communication with a number of countries".

"It essentially means creating a channel of communication with another government or with representatives of another government, that is discreet, that doesn't go through the official channels of diplomatic cables, of using ambassadors and more formal methods of communicating", says Peter Kornbluh, who co-wrote the book "Back Channel To Cuba: the Hidden History of Negotiations between Washington and Havana".

"Whenever you see the words "sources say" in the fake news media, and they don't mention names".

Mudd was referring to last week's Washington Post report that Kushner met in December with the Russian ambassador to the discuss establishing a secret communication channel to the Kremlin that could not be monitored by USA intelligence - using Russian facilities. "I don't think it's standard procedure prior to the inauguration of the president of the United States by someone who is not in an appointed position". Authorities said Godbolt fled and killed four more people at two other homes.

The Senate intelligence committee, which is investigating Russia's meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election, has requested information and documents from Trump's campaign dating back to July 2015, the AP and other news outlets confirmed.

Trump, who was initially expected to stop by the PGA golf tournament hosted at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, made no public appearances Sunday.

Democrats, in light of the reports, are calling for the president to revoke the 36-year-old's security clearance because of his potential links to Russian Federation.

The most successful deal of Jared Kushner's short and consequential career in real estate and politics involves one highly leveraged acquisition: a pair of adjoining offices a few penny-loafer paces from his father-in-law's desk in the White House.

"If not, then there's no way he can maintain that kind of a clearance", Schiff said.

In interviews with the Post, they said Kushner's reported plan, made when he was still a civilian, could have left him exposed to exploitation by Russian officials.

According to USA media, the secret line was never established. But Mr. Kushner is not the subject of a criminal investigation.

"It is my opinion that numerous leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies made up by the #FakeNews media", Trump wrote in one tweet.
