Comey set to testify publicly in Russian Federation investigation, reports say

Ever since reports surfaced that Donald Trump urged ex-FBI Director James Comey to drop the bureau's investigation into his campaign's ties to Russian Federation (before firing him for saying no), questions have loomed regarding the constraints on Comey's ability to testify in the Senate Intelligence Committee's own probe into the matter.

On Feb. 14, Trump allegedly asked Comey during a private meeting to cease an ongoing investigation into former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, who had resigned a day prior.

In an interview Wednesday he said Mr. Comey testified before a Senate Judiciary Committee that "he hasn't seen political pressure brought to bear on an investigation like this".

The House panel pursuing its own investigation of the Trump campaign and possible Russian Federation ties has also sought information from Comey, asking the FBI to turn over documents related to his interactions with both the White House and the Justice Department. The president later said in an interview on NBC News that he was concerned about the FBI investigation into what he called the "Russia thing".

The bit about Comey sitting down with Mueller to work out "parameters" for his testimony does seem to be new but doesn't add a lot to the story. "It should have been over with a long time ago". No date for testimony has been set.

Three weeks ago, John Pistole reportedly told his staff at the Anderson University that he had no interest in pursuing the job of Federal Bureau of Investigation director. Whatever one may think of the president's decision to fire Comey as a matter of policy, there is no legitimate basis for concluding that the president engaged in a crime by exercising his statutory and constitutional authority to fire director Comey. That appears less likely now that Mueller and Comey have discussed the limits of his testimony.

A New York Times report citing notes Comey took after the incident says Trump asked him in relation to the Flynn probe: 'I hope you can let this go'.

Since Comey's ouster earlier this month, there has been an ever-changing roster of candidates who could potentially replace him-all with various levels of law enforcement and legislative experience.

Just days before the presidential election, Comey announces the FBI is reopening its investigation into Clinton's email on the back of evidence found on Weiner's laptop. "He's happy to testify, and he's happy to cooperate."Another source also opened up to Politico about the case, confirming that Comey's testimony can come as early as next week".

Whenever Comey does testify, it will be before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Russian Federation has denied any meddling.
