Historian Ramchandra Guha quits as BCCI administrator, cites personal reasons

Ramachandra Guha is a noted historian, columnist and cricket writer who has a huge disdain for IPL, claiming it is bad for "capitalism, democracy and cricket".

Historian Ramachandra Guha has resigned from the Committee of Administrators, which was appointed by the Supreme Court of India to oversee the working of the BCCI and the implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations.

Guha has sought the apex court's permission to relieve him of his duties. The judgment was based on the recommendations of the Lodha committee, which had been appointed by it.

Reportedly, the Supreme Court has asked Guha to file a registry along with his plea which will be considered in July. Sources said that he had tendered his resignation citing personal reasons on Sunday last. Guha's resignation has come days before the all-important clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy.

Kumble and Kohli are also supposed to meet the CoA soon to discuss the vexed issue of player payments.

While naming the COA in January, the bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra, had rejected Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi's suggestion to appoint the secretary of the Union sports ministry as one of the administrators.
