Police arrest another suspect in Manchester terror probe

British police investigating the Manchester Arena bombing have made a new arrest while continuing to search addresses associated with the bomber who killed 22 people.

Akram Ramadan, a member of the Libyan community in Manchester who attends the city's Didsbury Mosque, said Abedi was banned from the mosque after he allegedly interrupted an imam's anti-Islamic State sermon.

In her first comments since the attack, Grande said Friday in a note on Twitter that she is sorry for the "pain and fear" her fans are feeling.

Manchester suicide bomber Salman Abedi likely received some ISIS training in Syria in the months before the attack, according to information gathered in the preliminary investigation, a USA official told CNN on Thursday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

A spokesperson for national counter-terrorism policing said: "We greatly value the important relationships we have with our trusted intelligence, law enforcement and security partners around the world". It said the database was built around a longstanding US-British system.

Speaking ahead of her departure for a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels, May said she would "make clear to President (Donald) Trump that intelligence which is shared between our law enforcement agencies must remain secure".

British officials are particularly angry that photos detailing evidence about the bomb were published in The New York Times, although it's not clear that the paper obtained the photos from USA officials.

Abedi, a college dropout who had grown up in the Manchester area, was known to security services because of his radical views.

The BBC said Manchester Police hoped to resume normal intelligence relationships soon but was now furious. He said he is asking the Justice Department and other agencies to "launch a complete review of this matter".

"Our coverage of Monday's horrific attack has been both comprehensive and responsible", the newspaper said. But it wasn't clear US officials were the source of the images, which the Times defended as "neither graphic nor disrespectful of victims" and consistent with basic reporting "on weapons used in horrific crimes".

Britain's security level has been upgraded to "critical" meaning officials believe another attack may be imminent.

Prime Minister Theresa May returned early from the G-7 summit in Sicily, and will chair a meeting of the government's COBRA emergency committee on Saturday. Troops have been deployed to guard key points and eight people have been arrested.

Queen Elizabeth visited the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, where some of the casualties have been treated, and was filmed chatting with a girl lying injured on a ward. "Very wicked, to target that sort of thing".

Grande tweeted that she was "broken" after the bombing.
