Kathy Griffin Cries, Apologizes For Trump Photo Controversy, Says 'He Broke Me'

Despite the apology, she was sacked from her job co-hosting CNN's New Year's Eve special and has had at least four comedy shows cancelled.

Kathy Griffin, the American comedian who sparked outrage by staging a photoshoot with Donald Trump's severed head, has accused the president of trying to destroy her.

The Secret Service declined to comment on Friday.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.

Speaking on Friday, Griffin insisted it was a parody meant to address Mr Trump's remark previous year that former Fox News presenter Megyn Kelly had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of wherever".

"I'm gonna make fun of him more now", Griffin said of Trump, adding, "I shouldn't have to die for this", referring to death threats she says she's received. "I made a disgusting mistake and made a frightful call". "I think he - I think he - I'm going to be honest, he broke me!"

The California GOP later sent out a fundraising email calling Griffin's photo shoot disrespectful and obscene.

Attorney Lisa Bloom announced plans to hold a press conference on the matter through a news release posted on Twitter.

However, Griffin claimed that now, because of a mistake she made, Mr. Trump and his team have a sexist vendetta against her.

This was the case yet again when TMZ caught up with the famed comedian to get his take on Kathy Griffin's photo-shoot with a fake bloody head that resembles Donald Trump.

Griffin "never imagined" that the mask could be interpreted as a threat of violence, Bloom said.

Backlash against Ms. Griffin has continued to grow. While theaters and venues are dropping scheduled shows.

When you look at the situation, there are many, like Bloom, who feel like Griffin is being censored for exercising her First Amendment right. He said Griffin is cooperating with the agency. It also cost her an endorsement deal with Squatty Potty.

A distraught Griffin said while her humour may not be palatable to everyone, she did not deserve the vicious online onslaught she has been facing.

Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself.

I am not laying down for this guy.

"They're all just considered bad boys", she said.

The 56-year-old comedian also argued that there wouldn't have been the same reaction if she was a guy.
