Two terrorist incidents in central London

London police responded to two "terrorist incidents" Saturday night following reports of a vehicle plowing into pedestrians on the London Bridge as well as reports of stabbings at Borough Market.

British PM Theresa May said the attack was being investigated as a potential terrorist incident.

Mr Varney then went on to describe the frantic scenes as emergency services arrived. "Our thoughts are with those who are caught up in these awful events", she added.

The incident bore similarities to a March attack on Westminster Bridge, west of London Bridge, in which a man killed five people after driving into a crowd of pedestrians before stabbing a police officer in the grounds of parliament.

The seriousness of the injuries is not yet known, he said.

The BTP officer, who was on duty, was one of the first on the scene after he responded to calls for help from the public, the force said.

Shortly afterward, London Metropolitan Police declared it a terrorist attack. "They were scared. The police were scared", Sciotto said.

Video posted on social media also showed a row of ambulances streaming away from the scene of the incidents. And then there were another four or five bodies that I saw, individuals lying again in many cases a lot of them were still on the bridge.

The Met said that a third incident, in the Vauxhall area, was determined to have no connection to what happened at the two other locations. "He hit about two people in front of me and then three behind", Ms Jones told the BBC News Channel.

Vice President Mike Pence echoed Trump in a separate statement on Twitter.

On May 22, a British-born suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured 59 others at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.

Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies tweeted: "Reports from London are truly horrifying".

President Donald Trump was briefed on the situation, according to the White House.

An emergency response helicopter landed on London Bridge, while the workers rushed people to waiting ambulances.

British Transport Police said there were reports of "multiple" casualties following the major incident on the bridge. London Bridge railway station is also closed.

The Royal Oak pub, near the attack site, opened its doors to people evacuated from hotels inside the area cordoned off by police. According to the witness reports, three men were in the bars and were stabbing some of the customers.

Authorities in Manchester last month deemed a bombing at the Manchester Arena a terror attack as well.
