Wishing for a Trump Twitterectomy

In the wake of the attack, Trump posted several tweets criticizing London Mayor Sadiq Khan for trying to give comfort to constituents.

After the London attacks on Sunday, the June 4th, Mr Trump used his favourite social media platform, Twitter, to take a jibe at London's Mayor Sadiq Khan. She reiterated her disappointment over his decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement on climate change, before being eventually forced to defend the capital's mayor.

At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is 'no reason to be alarmed!'

A few hours later President Trump, who was in the middle of tweeting about his "Muslim ban", made a decision to post about what had happened in Britain. May's criticism Monday follows her openly complaining last month about US security agencies leaking details of the Manchester Arena suicide bombing, which British police said hurt their investigation.

A spokesman said the mayor is focused on "working with the police, the emergency services and the government to keep London safe". Khan also declined Trump's proffered exemption from his proposed ban on Muslims entering the U.S.

Trump suggesting that Khan is somehow in denial about the problem of terrorism; that he doesn't grasp the full gravity of the situation, and doesn't really care.

He denied he was stoking up a feud which went back to 2016, when the mayor described Mr Trump's calls for a ban on Muslim entry into the United States as "ignorant".

When the British press ridiculed Trump's out-of-context quote, the president returned to Twitter to accuse the media of buying the mayor's "pathetic excuse". "Even the USA ambassador to London broke ranks with Trump by tweeting, "...

Asked whether he believes Khan is at fault for what happened, Trump said, "I'm not. No". But this grating sidebar to a terrorist incident that targeted our closest ally in the world is simply unforced and unhelpful nonsense, no matter how you gauge it. America is much, much bigger than that.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Monday that Trump was not "picking a fight with the mayor of London at all".

Khan said yesterday that Britain should no longer be willing to "roll out the red carpet" for Trump. "I think they're very rude statements, and, frankly, tell him I will remember those statements".
