Putin denounces United States sanctions

Contending that James Comey is "more like a rights activist than a secret service chief", Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week that he's ready to provide the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director with political asylum - an offer which reportedly appeared to be sarcastic.

Putin also added that, should Comey face any legal repercussions for his actions, "we would be ready to offer him political asylum as well", referring to protective measures Moscow granted to Snowden.

Comey told the Senate intelligence committee last week that he shared a copy of a memo describing conversations he had with President Donald Trump with a friend and encouraged him to leak it to the media.

Snowden, a former contractor for the CIA, was given asylum by Russian Federation for leaking classified information from the National Security Agency to journalists.

"[Comey] suddenly said he recorded a conversation with Trump, and then handed the tape over to the media, which is unusual".

By phrasing a question uniquely constructed for these unusual times, Putin put a new spin on the ongoing saga over Russia's tampering in the USA election, links between President Trump's inner circle with Russian Federation - and allegations that the president tried to stop at least one line of inquiry.

Russia wants ties with the United States improved, but the American domestic political situation is close to hopeless and while the Russian door is open, no one is going to lose their breath waiting to hold it open, political analyst Adam Garrie said, commenting on Putin's statement.

"We have been through two wars together", Putin said.

Of course, Putin was probably just puttin' out the offer as a joke.

As for Russian Federation, "we have an opinion of our own, we express it openly".

Mr. Putin even took time to answer an angry viewer who called the entire Q&A exercise a sham.

Responding to a question by a BBC reporter about whether he saw Navalny as a political competitor, President Putin said, "When I heard you were from the BBC, I didn't doubt for a moment you would ask precisely that question because it's in a certain sense propaganda of the people whom you support". "It's evidence of a continuing internal political struggle in the US", he said.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that its primary goal in Syria is to ensure that the jihadists who came to fight for Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) will not return to Russian Federation and employ their battleground experience to carry out attacks. "If it wasn't for Crimea, if it wasn't for other problems, they would think of other reasons to contain Russian Federation", he said.

His comments on Comey and the leaks aside, Putin made a note on the show that Russian Federation actively seeks cooperation with the United States. Once I reveal their age and name, they will be quickly identified and they won't be left alone.

Numerous topics center on wages, inflation and the economy. In the fifteenth edition of the show - which spanned over a duration of four detailed and intense hours - Putin dabbled in heavy topics on the Russian economy, foreign policy, the Ukrainian crisis, and much more.

"Thank God, this is something, this is good", Putin said. One daughter was rumoured to be living in the Netherlands.
