BJP president Amit shah meets Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree

The oldest and most prominent ally of the BJP, Thackeray told Shah on Sunday that his party would take a decision only after the BJP's Presidential nominee was named.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in the past had said he had suggested Bhagwat's name for the post of president.

Thackeray said the Sena had recommended and supported Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's name because "Hindustan is a Hindu nation" and there was nobody better than Bhagwat to represent this identity. In 1997, Sena propped up former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) TN Seshan as its Presidential candidate against KR Narayanan.

On the recent farm loan waiver announced by the Maharashtra government, Shah had said through it the state was offering relief to the farmers.

As the war between Shiv Sena and BJP has intensified after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections this February, the opposition is leaving no stone unturned to make the most of the situation.

Kovind is likely to file his papers on June 23, Shah said in Delhi after a almost two-hour meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board. "Unless peace is restored and Pakistan stop middling in the internal affairs of India and playing with the internal security by instigating the terrorist and allowing cross border terrorism India should refrain from playing with Pakistan any game", BJP leader S. Prakash told ANI. "Just because he was the leader of Dalit Morcha of BJP they have made him the candidate", Mamata said. Naidu, who along with Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley are members of a party panel formed to consult parties to evolve a broad consensus, later briefed BJP chief Amit Shah, the sources said.

"Some people said (when the agitation was on) that they will bring the government down, they will withdraw support".

With the Sena releasing how much the BJP's needs it for July's presidential polls, the saffron party is pushing the BJP for a hard bargain. You will win all elections. I do not fear mid-term elections.

In an embarrassment for the ruling BJP, its ally Shiv Sena has virtually joined ranks with the state opposition parties demanding complete loan waiver for farmers and on other major issues confronting the state.
