Finsbury Park suspect's family 'devastated for families of injured'

A van struck worshipers leaving a north London mosque early Monday morning, causing several casualties, local media reported.

Security Minister Ben Wallace said the suspect was not known to the security services and was believed to have acted alone. Then on June 3, eight people were killed and 48 were injured when three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before leaping out and launching a stabbing spree in nearby bars and restaurants.

Earlier, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said the incident was "quite clearly an attack on Muslims" and that "we treat this as a terrorist attack".

On May 22, a suicide attack killed 22 people and injured almost 60 after an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

"While details emerge about what happened through this Met Police-led investigation, security is being reviewed in both Surrey and Sussex Police in order for us to keep people safe".

In a statement at 4.46am they said the incident was being investigated by counter-terrorism police.

It said searches were being carried out at a residential address in the Cardiff area in Wales.




She added: "I saw a lot of people injured".

Finsbury Park Mosque said it was a "callous terrorist attack" and noted it had occurred nearly exactly a year after a man obsessed with Nazis and extreme right-wing ideology murdered lawmaker Jo Cox, a former humanitarian aid worker. In the past decade, the mosque has transformed its image from one associated with radicalization to one that advocates interfaith harmony.

As a Muslim, she said attacks like the one in London can create fear within the Muslim community in Windsor.
