Lorde apologises for 'really insensitive' Taylor Swift comments

Lorde shared her thoughts on what it's like to be friends with uber famous pal Taylor Swift in a new interview.

"It's like having a friend with very specific allergies", she said. "Certain things you can't do", she told the publication.

"There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship", Lorde continued.

Celebrity friendships are clearly on another level, but Lorde is exactly the kind of public figure who knows how much weight her words hold, whether in context or, alas, out.

And she responded by saying it was the same as being in a friendship with someone suffering from an autoimmune disease.

Swift and Lorde have developed a close friendship since meeting in NY in 2013, and Swift even threw Lorde a 20th birthday party in November a year ago.

Admitting it was "really insensitive" and that she "fucked up", Lorde addressed her comments on Twitter on Monday night.

But if it's so hard to be friendly with famous people, why does Lorde seem to have so many well-known friends?

'I can build stuff and sing stuff, but I am not good at selling the dream.

"I think everyone can make five wonderful records, if you can, then it gets interesting".

I hate it and every time it happens to me, I feel unsafe. I still find it very jarring. I totally feel like an underdog. I love the fact that I can go play before the headliner at Coachella and then I can be, like, "Bye-bye!"

She went on to talk about the release of her newest album Melodrama - her second record to date.

Lorde says, "I've talked to other artist friends about a moment in their careers when they've felt themselves stop getting better..."
