Bill Cosby Now Considering Taking The Stand In His Own Defense!

Bill Cosby Now Considering Taking The Stand In His Own Defense!

In an afternoon session in which the jury in the Norristown, PA trial learned extensively of Cosby's dispensing of Quaaludes to women for sex, Day 5 also saw defense attorney Brian McMonagle aggressively question the sexual assault expert witness for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

In his testimony, Cosby recounted a telephone conversation he had with Constand's mother, saying he apologized for the sexual encounter with her daughter because he was afraid she thought of him as "a dirty old man".

If convicted, Cosby could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Meanwhile, Bill Cosby has said he will not be taking the stand, but there are reports that his defense team may be re-thinking the strategy.

According to the prosecution's filing, Cosby's defense team says that Constand did not tell Cosby she was gay during their 2004 interactions, which amounts to "conceal [ment] and deceit".

ON THE STAND: Psychologist Veronique Valliere testified that victims of celebrities often are afraid to come forward because of the possible backlash.

Assistant District Attorney Kristen Feden point out that the defense had questioned Constand's behavior, spending nearly an hour grilling her about phone calls to Cosby in the weeks after the alleged assault.

Prosecutors on Friday will continue to show jurors portions of the deposition, including Cosby's admission that he obtained Quaaludes, a sedative, to give to young women. Although Valliere admitted to writing them, the judge ultimately refused the request for a dismissal.

This was likely because the 79-year-old comedian's lawyers question why Constand kept calling Cosby after she says he drugged and sexually assaulted her, and why she waited a year to go to police with it.

"We have expectations that are misguided about how people react to sexual assault [by a non-stranger]" she said.

"Where would that money come from?" a detective asked Cosby.

Valliere said survivors initially resist verbally and then their response is usually shock, especially if the perpetrator is someone they know.

In May of 2016, a Pennsylvania judge ruled there was enough evidence to charge Cosby with three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault stemming from allegations Constand had made in 2005.

The lengthy transcript describes how Cosby tried to negotiate with Constand's anguished mother when she had just learned of the alleged incident at Cosby's suburban Philadelphia estate. "I'm not sending anything over the mail, and I'm not giving away anything", he had said.

"Most (assaults) are never reported to authorities, so they're delayed forever", she said.

Having Cosby testify also could spoil his lawyers' successful efforts to prevent jurors from hearing about the more than 60 other women who say he assaulted them since the 1960s. She has yet to be seen in court. She alleges that she consented to nothing, and that Bill Cosby drugged her. Earlier in the week, Keshia Knight-Pulliam, who played the youngest daughter, Rudy, on "The Cosby Show, " attended in support of Cosby.
