Extremely Dramatic New Video Shows Actual Philando Castile Shooting

Audio can heard at about the:30 mark below (Warning: the video is graphic).

On July 6, 2016, Philando Castile, a black man, was pulled over in a St. Paul, MN, suburb for having a busted taillight.

The video had been played for jurors during Yanez's trial, but had not been seen by the public until Tuesday when it was released by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Ramsey County Attorney's office. Thirty seconds later, Castile says, "Sir, I have to tell you I do have a firearm on me". After pulling Castile's vehicle over, Yanez exits his cruiser and tells Castile his brake light is broken.

Kauser would later say that he was "absolutely" surprised when Yanez opened fire.

The video does not show images that might have been essential for jurors to consider: a full view of the front seat of Mr. Castile's auto, which would have showed his hands - and what he was reaching for - just before the shooting.

Trevor Noah blasted the NRA for remaining silent on the police killing of licensed gun owner Philando Castile, who was fatally shot during a traffic stop that was streamed live on Facebook. The officer then walks over to the vehicle and tells Castile he was pulled over because his break lights were out.

Yanez, who is Latino, was acquitted of manslaughter and other charges Friday. Reynolds has always maintained that Castile was reaching for his ID when Yanez shot him multiple times.

On Friday a Ramsey County jury found Jeronimo Yanez not guilty of manslaughter and risky discharge of a firearm in the shooting death of Castile, a black man.

Prosecutors had argued during the trial that Yanez never saw a gun, was nervous and used deadly force recklessly in shooting a courteous and cooperative Castile, while Castile's girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter sat in the vehicle.

Yanez fires seven shots into the vehicle; five of them reportedly hit Castile.

Diamond Reynolds, a woman thought to be Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, is heard saying "you just killed my boyfriend!" According to Castile's girlfriend in the front seat, he was reaching for either his license or registration from his wallet in his pocket.

"I don't know what silent crime you think I'm on my way to commit", Noah said. Yanez is then heard asking for insurance and identification.

Officer Jeronimo Yanez claimed he spotted the 32-year-old driving past and believed the shape of his nose reminded him of a suspect wanted for armed robbery.

"I'm not pulling out", Castile replied. "I told him to get his hands off it!" He just had somethin' uh his hands and he, the first words that he said to me were, some of the first words he said is that he had a gun.

"The public will be best served if Officer Yanez is no longer a police officer in our city", the statement said.

The city of St. Anthony announced Friday Yanez was being dismissed from its police force, despite the acquittal. Reynolds also testified in court that Castile had followed Yanez's orders.
