Former Barcelona starlet 'close to signing' for Chelsea

Chelsea are reportedly interested in sealing the transfer of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore this summer after first being linked with him back in January.

Adama Traore, Gaston Ramirez and Marten de Roon all look set to return to the Premier League with interest for the respective players high.

Back in 2015-16, the former Spain Under-19 worldwide failed to score and created only one chance in 10 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa.

During the 2016-17 season, Traore failed to score a single goal and provided only one assist in 16 Premier League starts for Middlesbrough.

The former Barcelona man was one of the few positives for Boro in an otherwise disappointing season devoid of much excitement for the club's supporters.

The 21-year-old has shown some promise in his debut season with Boro despite failing to get on the scoresheet in 27 Premier League appearances, and the Blues manager Antonio Conte clearly believes he has the potential to develop into a quality footballer.

According to Middlesbrough's official website, Traore clocked a top speed of 34.84km/h during a game against Arsenal last October.

At 21, the player proved he has the spark to trouble any side on his day and that might just interest Chelsea enough to make a move for the Spaniard. His move to a more illustrious club may also see him finally take strides towards becoming a full-fledged global for La Roja's senior side.
