Otto Warmbier's family declines autopsy

Otto Warmbier's family declines autopsy

James Foley was a freelance war correspondent before he was captured and held for almost two years. Several senators said they were considering a travel ban.

North Korea last tested a nuclear bomb in September, but it has conducted repeated missile test since and vowed to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the US mainland, putting it at the forefront of Trump's security worries.

Warmbier, 22, was convicted of stealing a propaganda poster while visiting North Korea and fell into a coma after he was sentenced in March 2016 to 15 years of hard labor.

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum in Cincinnati says all who wish to join his family in a celebration of life are "cordially invited".

A funeral has been scheduled on Thursday morning at a high school in Wyoming, Ohio, from where Warmbier completed his schooling before enrolling at the University of Virginia, the BBC reported. They have not cited any specific death's cause but blamed "awful, torturous mistreatment" by North Korea. He died Monday in Cincinnati. Tillerson says he extends his condolences to the family of Warmbier and offers his prayers as Warmbier's parents "enter a time of grief no parent should ever know".

The United States has called on North Korea to release "as soon as possible", three Americans who are still detained by Pyongyang, following the death of the college student, Otto Warmbier. "At least I know China tried!", Mr. Trump said in a tweet which came hours before the USA and China were set to meet in Washington to talk about North Korea.

Warmbier's death is "an outrage even by North Korean standards", said John Delury, an associate professor of Chinese studies at Yonsei University in Seoul.

McCain is the Republican chairman of the Armed Services Committee.

The fact that North Korea is now a nuclear-armed state is in no small part a effect of almost three decades of ill-conceived American and global policy.

Only an external examination was performed. He could not speak or move voluntarily and his doctors said he suffered extensive brain damage.

This story has been corrected to show the coroner's last name is Sammarco, not Sammaraco.

What happened to Otto Warmbier is what has been happening to North Korean citizens for more than 70 years, since Kim Il-sung transformed the new country into what it is today: a hermetically sealed prison state operated by a hereditary dictatorship that some scholars estimate has murdered around 1.5 million people in its network of concentration camps. Obama's office had no reaction, but his former aides have said he worked tirelessly to try to get Warmbier and other Americans released from North Korea. In the wake of Warmbier's death, Chan said the company will continue that suspension.

Warmbier traveled to North Korea with the Young Pioneer Tours travel company, which, before his death, said on its website North Korea was "extremely safe". North Korean officials said he became comatose after he was given a sleeping pill following a botulism diagnosis.

Warmbier died on Monday after returning to his hometown in OH, triggering outrage in the United States. The result? That cause of death remains a mystery, at least for now.
