Allen Iverson Practices for Debut of Ice Cube's BIG3 League

Allen Iverson Practices for Debut of Ice Cube's BIG3 League

Showing the risk of relying on players well past their primes, there were injuries in the first two games.

He may be the biggest name in the league, but his role on the court will be minor. "I have no idea how he's going to look, but it'll just be nice to see him play at all". Iverson had two points, one rebound and two assists in the game while going 1-6 from the field in limited minutes. The playing part is not going to be what you expect.

For the fans, they get to see matchups that are new, and rivalries that are both new and old.

Then there was the injury factor - easily the biggest impediment to a league featuring players in their late 30s and 40s. Jason Williams had to leave the first game after injuring his knee, and the same thing happened to Corey Maggette in the second one. Andre Owens of 3's Company, who had a nine-year career overseas before retiring from basketball, said he wants to use this opportunity to show that he belongs in the NBA.

"Sky's the limit. Obviously you see the debut", Iverson said. We think guys is going to get back in the League with the BIG3. After the first two games, Power will face off against the Killer 3's in Game 3, and 3's Company will lock horns with Ghost Ballers in Game 4.

With all the musical talent Ice Cube possesses, it was just a matter of time until he laid down a track to hype the BIG3 basketball league's opening weekend.

Players will compete for a revenue share based on final league standings. There was pushing and shoving in the post and a few hard fouls, and the physicality and trash talk appeared to heat up as the games went on.

It was also more physical than today's National Basketball Association.

"It's a different evolution of a game that plays into the strengths of our players", Kwatinetz continues.

When: Monday, June 26 Time: 8 p.m. ET Channel: Fox Sports 1 Online: Fox Sports Go app. If you go see the BIG3, you'll see Ricky Davis launching jumpers with abandon, Jermaine O'Neal posting up and Jerome Williams barking at the crowd. Cuttino Mobley was completely believable when he said he had "no clue" when he last played competitive basketball, making 5-of-20 shots in the half-court contest. The BIG3 is not the NBA, nor is it "the most competitive basketball league in the world" aside from the NBA, as Power coach and Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler described it. Mike Bibby hit two four-point shots, and it was kind of upsetting that he didn't launch more than three of them. Trilogy's Al Harrington exploded for 25 points, Rashad McCants dropped 15 points, and James White added an extra 16.

Iverson's team, 3's company, took down the Ball Hogs on Sunday, beating them 61-51. Derrick Byars chipped in 19.

The rapper-actor's new 3-on-3 basketball league of former NBA players got off to a strong start Sunday, with the first two games decided on winning shots before 15,177 at Barclays Center in NY.

On Sunday, the new league opened with action from New York's Barclays Center.
