Frank de Boer named new Crystal Palace manager

Palace have been without a manager since Sam Allardyce opted to leave the south London club at the end of last season after securing their top flight survival.

The Premier League club confirmed on Monday that the former Ajax and Inter boss has signed a three-year deal at Selhurst Park.

Iheanacho, who joined Man City's academy in 2014, has been also linked to Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton.

The Netherlands great thrived as a head coach in his homeland with Ajax, leading the club to four consecutive Eredivisie titles.

Frank de Boer has been appointed as the new manager of Crystal Palace.

"I am pleased to welcome him to Crystal Palace and I know he can not wait to get started and prepare for our record breaking fifth season in the top flight".

Crystal Palace embark on a new era with a manager who was brought up with the football philosophy of Ajax and Barcelona.

For de Boer - who along with twin brother Ronald were part of a sublimely-talented Dutch side that lost on penalties in the 1998 World Cup semi-finals to Brazil - is not aiming too high initially. I was very excited.

He added: "After Inter he learned that he needs more knowledge about his team going in to a new job - that's why he waited".

It marks a change in approach for Palace, who have never had a permanent boss from outside the United Kingdom in charge - Attilio Lombardi's brief spell as caretaker the closest they have come.

The Dutchman, though, hopes he can last the distance at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace has expressed a serious interest in signing Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to reports.
