PM Modi greets Indian community outside his hotel

After their talks, Modi and Trump will make statements in the Rose Garden.

President Trump reaffirmed the support of the United States for India's permanent membership on a reformed U.N. Security Council.

In the US, Modi held talks with President Donald Trump today during which the two leaders vowed to strengthen co- operation on terror.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted a group of Indians who were waiting for him outside the hotel in Hague, Netherlands.

Trump built a Trump Tower property in Mumbai and spoke warmly of India during his presidential campaign a year ago. "We have also clearly stated that we oppose linking terrorism with certain countries", Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said. "I appreciate India's efforts in Afghanistan", Trump said.

With his hugs and firm handshakes for which the Indian Prime Minister is known for, PM Modi continued with the same style and fashion to create a "personal bond" with President Donald Trump.

"Be assured that in this joint journey of our two nations towards development, growth and prosperity, I will remain a driven, determined, and decisive partner", he said.

The discussions now underway for US-produced natural gas could go some way in offsetting that deficit, but President Trump's language suggests bruising spats over intellectual property rights and trade regulations could again occupy centrestage in relations between the two countries.

In accord with India's Think West policy, President Trump and Prime Minister Modi resolved to increase cooperation, enhance diplomatic consultations, and increase tangible collaboration with partners in the Middle East.

Modi met Abbas during the PA leader's trip to India in May, and senior Indian officials have visited Abbas at his Ramallah residence during their trips to Israel, it added. And then, there was a second hug before Modi left the White House.

Cook reiterated that Apple had generated 740,000 jobs in India through its so-called "app economy" and Indian developers had created almost 100,000 apps for the App Store, the person said.

Mark Rutte also took to the micro-blogging site and tweeted to his Indian counterpart in Hindi.

Trump is also touting the relationship between the United States and India as "very, very strong and very, very powerful".

There have been some tangible takeaways, like the US' willingness to sell India naval drones, but these are the outcome of processes begun under the stewardship of former president, Barack Obama. But Washington and New Delhi share concerns about China's rise as a military power that has underpinned increasingly close relations in the past decade.

The meeting is the first between the leaders of the world's two largest democracies.

In advance of the meeting, the Trump administration approved India's purchase of almost two dozen unarmed surveillance drones.

Modi and Trump called upon all nations to resolve territorial and maritime disputes peacefully and in accordance with worldwide law. The deal, estimated to be worth about $2 billion, is still subject to congressional approval.
