Sean Spicer: Trump's 'Tapes' Tweet Made Comey 'Tell The Truth'

Civil rights attorney Alan Dershowitz said Friday that President Donald Trump was right to raise questions about special counsel Robert Mueller's objectivity in the Russian Federation probe because of his longstanding friendship with fired FBI Director James Comey.

If President Trump has "no intention" of firing special counsel Robert Mueller, as the White House insisted last week, he sure has a amusing way of showing it.

Mr Trump criticised Mr Mueller for having appointed "all Hillary Clinton supporters" to his staff for the investigation. "You know, health care is a very hard situation".

Comey also said Trump privately asked him to "let go" of the FBI's investigation of Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

While the president said he believed Mr Mueller was an "honourable man", he also pointed out that he was friends with Mr Comey, the man controversially fired by the president last month.

During the course of the interview, Trump wrongly implied that he and his Administration have relayed a consistent rationale for why Trump fired Comey, when in fact officials, including Trump, have offered shifting explanations.

And in a Twitter boast, he said, "I've helped pass and signed 38 Legislative bills, mostly with no Democratic s upport, and gotten rid of massive amounts of regulations". "With Trump saying maybe somebody else did taping, it makes me wonder are there tapes, did tapes exist at one point that have now been destroyed, are there tapes out there that he's aware of but that he didn't do himself".

Russian Federation denies it meddled in the USA presidential election.

Trump allegedly asked Comey for his loyalty and for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to stop investigating former national security advisor, Michael Flynn, as part of an ongoing probe into alleged collusion between Trump's presidential campaign and the Russian government, according to Comey's testimony to Congress early this month.

"My story didn't change; my story was always a straight story; my story was always the truth", Trump said on "Fox & Friends". He did admit that what I said was right. Reports in recent days have pointed out that lawyers working on the probe have donated to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's campaigns.

Trump tweeted on May 12.

Trump concluded by maintaining that he had never changed his story, and that his "story was always the truth".

Representative Adam Schiff, the committee's top Democrat, said in a statement on Thursday that Trump's Twitter comment stopped short of denying that the White House had tapes or recordings and said the White House must respond in writing.

The day before, Trump tweeted that he never actually recorded his conversations.
