Usain Bolt to make European bow in farewell season

Usain Bolt to make European bow in farewell season

Organisers realised they were on to a good thing with Bolt, bucking other meets' reticence to back just one star athlete and quickly tailoring their meet to his demands.

Also competing will be Kenya's Olympic steeplechase gold medallist Conseslus Kipruto, and American double Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor returns to the place of his first major medals at World U18 Championships in Ostrava 2007.

"The fact that I know it's that last time it will be emotional, just seeing it and feeling, being around people and athletes, sitting in the meal room around everybody, joking and laughing about old times, it'll be emotional". "I am shocked that it's so warm, I guess I brought some sun from Jamaica".

Usain Bolt has refused to confirm that this summer's World Championships in London will be final event of his career, although he does admit that it will be the end of what has been an "emotional" season.

"Every meet will be emotional", he said. "I'm looking forward to going out there and putting on a show for the fans for the last time because they look forward to it", said Bolt. I just like entertaining the crowd.

"For sure I won't be running the 200m" at the worlds, he said.

"I am the fastest man in the world so I will say yes to that, ' said the eight-time Olympic champion, before claiming he has never had the 'luck" of De Grasse's run in Stockholm, where he was helped by a strong 4.8m tailwind.

In London he is set to meet his old rival Gatlin after the 35-year-old won the United States trials last week.

Bolt, though, is the master of the big moment - when there is a big race on, the Jamaican always finds his best form and he sees no reason for that to change at the World Championships.

It was was by far the quickest in the world this year and Bolt, 30, has at times appeared a little bothered by a rival with whom he was friendly at the Olympics. It shows that Justin Gatlin is a competitor and he shows year after year that he is not to be taken lightly.

Despite the void Bolt will leave, the Jamaican was confident for the doping-mired sport, with Sebastian Coe leading the purge as head of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

He said: 'I definitely am going training with Dortmund.
