Princes William and Harry to attend service at Diana's grave

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will attend a private service to rededicate the grave of Princess Diana on what would have been her 56th birthday.

William's family, including his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be in attendance.

Princess Diana at a charity gala in NY in December 1995.

Charles and Camilla will not attend, as they will be in Ottawa for royal duties to mark Canada Day.

"The service, which will fall on what would have been the Princess's birthday, will be conducted by The Archbishop of Canterbury and attended by her family", a statement from the palace explained.

Twenty years ago, on August 31, Princess Diana, along with her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed and driver Henri Paul, were killed in a auto crash in Paris, crashing into a pole in a tunnel. While she was an extremely public figure, she was also a mother, and dealing with that kind of pain privately proved hard for the young boys.

It has also been announced that William and Harry had commissioned a statue of their mother, which will stand in the public gardens of her former home, Kensington Palace, in London. William was 15 and Harry was only 12 when they lost their beloved mother.

"Diana was the only woman I was asked to kill".

A multi-million pound project to redevelop the whole island was expected to be finished in time for the anniversary on August 31. "I don't think it would happen today".

Diana is buried on an island in a handsome ornamental lake known as The Oval within Althorp Park's Pleasure Garden.

"I am in a better place about [my mother's death] than I have been for a long time", William told GQ in an interview, "where I can talk about her more openly, talk about her more honestly, and I can remember her better, and publicly talk about her better".

"Our mother touched so many lives".
