Tiemoue Bakayoko arrives at Cobham to finalise £40m Chelsea deal

Premier League champions Chelsea are getting closer to signing AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko which suggests that the Serbian global Nemanja Matic will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge during summer.

However, Manchester United were also said to have had an interest in the 22-year-old and there had been reports they were planning a late bid for him.

Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko will soon undergo a Chelsea medical after a deal has been agreed between both clubs.

Matic has been linked with leaving the Premier League champions in the current transfer window with Jose Mourinho's Manchester United side mooted as a potential destination.

Matic will meet with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia over his future and will hope that the £39.7million arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko will hasten his departure.

Manchester United, on the other hand, signed Sweden global Victor Lindelof in a £30.7m deal before the Red Devils beat Chelsea to the £75m signing of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

Bakayoko was one of the most prominent players in Monaco's campaign last season and helped them to the French Ligue 1 title and the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Taking advantage of the situation are Inter Milan, who are now set to make a move for him. As per the Metro, the Monaco ace is expected to sign a five-year deal with the London club.

Meanwhile, Sky sources understand United remain in talks with Inter to sign Ivan Perisic and a deal is getting closer.
