Trump son-in-law under pressure over Russia scandal

As has been previously reported, the meeting was set up by music publicist Rob Goldstone, who told Donald Trump Jr.in an email chain that Veselnitskaya has "information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russian Federation and would be very useful to your father".

Two weeks after Donald J. Trump clinched the Republican presidential nomination previous year, his eldest son arranged a meeting at Trump Tower in Manhattan with a Russian lawyer who has connections to the Kremlin, according to confidential government records.

Trump's advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-campaign manager Paul Manafort were also in the meeting.

Congress wanted to punish Russian human rights abusers by barring them from entering the U.S. This followed the 2009 death of Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who died at age 37 in a Moscow prison where he was held - and allegedly beaten - after accusing Russian officials of massive tax fraud. No additional names have been provided.

Akhmetshin did not know whether the documents were provided by the Russian government. He said the meeting only lasted for roughly 30 minutes. Publicist Rob Goldstone, who brokered the meeting via email with Trump Jr., has told the AP that he was there. "And then in the campaign, whether it was the New York State primary, the headquarters in New York City or the (Republican National) Convention, I don't recall anyone saying the word "Russia" to me or around me".

A company hired Caputo to improve the image of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a time Caputo describes as brief and relatively uneventful.

New federal filings show that President Donald Trump's re-election campaign is paying Donald Trump, Jr.'s defense attorney.

"From Wisconsin to Kentucky, and from MI to Pennsylvania people voted for Donald Trump because he promised jobs, security, willingness to drain the swamp", not because of the Kremlin, he continued.

According to Akhmetshin, Trump Jr. asked if she could demonstrate the flow of money, proving its illicit nature.

"They couldn't wait for the meeting to end", he added. It was as if Trump Jr had entered the No Embarrassment Zone.

"What really matters to the Democrats is that I know Donald Trump", he said.

Caputo said lawmakers, when they realized he had not been in Russian Federation nor involved with the Trump campaign at the time of alleged collusion, began focusing their questions about other individuals. He said he's willing to talk with the Senate Judiciary Committee, whose chairman has pressed the Justice Department about why Akhmetshin has not registered as a foreign agent.

The investigation is being carried out by special counsel Robert Mueller to find out whether any Trump campaign associates colluded with Russian Federation to interfere in the election.
