Joe Biden to visit Madison on national book tour

Former Vice President Joe Biden will appear at Proctors at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, for a speaking engagement that is part of a 19-city, monthlong promotional tour for his forthcoming memoir, "Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and goal".

Along with a slate of 600-plus novelists, poets and journalists appearing at the literary festival, marquee authors will include former vice president Joe Biden, author and 2014 Presidential Medal of Freedom victor Isabel Allende, Obama White House photographer Pete Souza and Miami-raised Obama inauguration poet Richard Blanco.

The 19-city nationwide book tour kicks off November 13 in NY.

Pre-sales begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18. Ticket purchases include a copy of the book.

Biden will appear on November 20 at 7:30 p.m.at the theatre.




The monthlong book tour is described as "a series of conversations that will go beyond the 24-hour news cycle and 140-character arguments to connect friends and neighbors around the topics that matter most". In a tweet, Biden called the speaking tour "a series of conversations" with a tagline on a promotional image touting the tour as a way of "finding goal in a time of uncertainty".

A Year of Hope, Hardship, and goal, ' will be released by Flatiron Books on November 14, with the title coming from an emotional conversation the Vice President had with his son during their final Thanksgiving together.

The book chronicles 2015, which Biden calls to the most momentous and challenging year in his life.

Biden said his son, Beau - who in May 2015 at the age of 46 after a battle with brain cancer, made a powerful statement to him in 2014.
