Dileep's driver Appunni appears before police

Kochi: In the actress attack case, the absconding manager of actor Dileep, M S Sunilraj aka Appunni appeared before the Kerala police probing team Monday.

Appunni had told the court that the police were trying to fabricate evidence by making him and film director Nadirshah, who is also a close friend of Dileep, approvers in the case. As the waiting media ran after him with queries, Appunni managed to reach inside the police club compound in a auto. As mediapersons rushed to get his statements, the real Appunni managed to get into the building.

The actress, who has worked in Tamil and Telugu films, was abducted and molested inside her auto for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle and later escaped.

Apparently, the police enquired Siddique about a stage show rehearsal happened in 2013 in which Dileep had confronted the assaulted actress. However, the High Court had on Thursday rejected his anticipatory bail plea, and directed him to appear before the probe team.

According to reports, Appunni told the police that he knew Pulsar Suni, from the time the latter was working as a driver for actor-turned-politician Mukesh.

As he was not paid compensation as promised, Suni allegedly wrote a letter to Dileep from the jail, with the help of Vipin Lal and Vishnu. The visitor, however, did not respond to the queries and entered the Police Club. Officers did not rule out the possibility of subjecting Appunni to another round of interrogation. The police had interrogated him once before the arrest; however, they wanted to re-question him post Dileep's arrest to find out his involvement in the case. Reportedly, the actor was furious and had picked a fight with the actress for revealing his relationship with actress Kavya Madhavan to his then wife, Manju Warrier.

Kochi: To regain the lost image because of the recent actor abduction case, various organisations of the Malayalam film fraternity have made a decision to join hands. The committee will have three members each from AMMA, FEFKA, the Producers Association, Distributors Association and the Exhibitors Union.
