Nintendo Switch system update fixes battery charge issue

Nintendo Switch system update fixes battery charge issue

Nintendo have released a new update for Switch, bringing the system up to version 3.0.1 and while this does not add any cool new feature like a virtual console, it does fix an issue with the battery indicator. To make sure it's fully charged (because the bug affects the battery meter), charge the Switch for three hours. It was the first major update released for the console since launch, but aside from adding new features and fixing a few bugs, the update also introduced a odd issue. According to those who've experienced the issue, the system's battery life indicator would either not update while the console was charging or would display the incorrect percentage when the system was fully charged.

The console can be in use while it is charging. Leave the console alone for at least 30 minutes. Nintendo says to let the console charge for about three hours if it doesn't reach 100 percent right away.

At this point, you'd already have spent up to eight hours trying to fix the Switch. You can find the step-by-step instructions for how to improve the system's battery life indicator on Nintendo's website.

Repeat steps 2 - 6 several times. So you'd likely have to complete these steps three times, minimum.

It's quite a tedious process that will take you many hours, if not days, but apparently it's required to sort out the indicator fault.

I've run into the battery indicator bug a few times while playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild over the past month, but after a handful of Switch system restarts, haven't had it crop up.
