Fire breaks out in Dubai hotel

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director of Dubai Civil Defense, said advance fire systems and curtains ensured the fire didn't spread.

It described the blaze as "minor" and said firefighters already had extinguished the blaze.

A fire erupted at a Dubai five-star hotel in the Marina tourist hotspot on Monday, with no casualties or injuries reported.

An Associated Press reporter saw residents of the tower being allowed back inside early Sunday afternoon.

Two days after the 86-storeyed Torch Tower in Dubai Marina had caught fire, another building a few metres away, the 73-storeyed Pinnacle Tower commonly known as Tiger Tower, also had a fire doused within minutes on Sunday at around 11.20am.

The incident broke out on Thursday night as footage posted on social media showed fire spreading upwards the Torch Tower. It was the second time in 2 ฝ years that the more than 1,100-foot-tall (335 meters) tower has been ravaged by fire.

The Abu Dhabi-based state-linked daily The National reported Sunday that residents of the Torch tower were informed in June that authorities had approved repairs to damage caused by the first fire, and that the building's insurer was processing the claim.

The fire which broke out at a high-rise tower in Dubai has been brought under control.
