Bucs 2016 2nd Round Pick K Roberto Aguayo Misses Another Extra Point

Aguayo, 23, lasted only one season with the Buccaneers after Tampa Bay traded up in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft to select the Florida State product. Although it was his only attempt, Folk's kick was two yards further than Aguayo's longest field goal in 2016.

Aguayo also stunk it up in the early going a year ago, missing an extra point in the Bucs' first preseason game and two field goals in their second. In Friday's preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, Aguayo was 1-for-2 on field goals, making a 20-yarder but missing a 47-yarder.

After quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick hit paydirt from six yards out to give Tampa its first touchdown, Aguayo lined up...and missed the extra point. In the third quarter, Nick Folk nailed a 45-yard field goal. I know I pushed it a little bit, and I felt hopefully it would stay in but it broke right.

"I keep saying it, I can't say it anymore". You're a kicker. You gotta make your kicks.

Aguayo worked with a mental coach during his rookie year to try to overcome his misses.

Aguayo sat alone for a few minutes after dressing at his locker following Friday's game. I hit it good. I hit it good. "You just have to keep your head up move on to the next day". I want to change this. I did some good things. He connected on 23 of 24 field goals during the Seminoles' national title run in 2013 and was a Groza award finalist in 2014 after converting 27 of 30 field goals. Ideal in college, Aguayo only managed to make 71.0 percent of his field goals in his rookie year.

"When you get bored doing something, 'well there's more I can do".
