Makarfi: PDP praying for Buhari, but will work to win 2019 elections

Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee by four months.

The convention is scheduled to hold tomorrow in Abuja. I don't know about you but as for me, I am in Aso Rock already.

He said, "This experience is not limited to the PDP in Nigeria alone".

He said the party must insist that any member of the caretaker committee interested in running for the offices of the president, governor or senate in the 2019 general election should step down now. In short, we cut short the hopes of Nigerians with our failure to manage our success.

We can not shy away from the fact that there are lessons to be learnt also.

Governor Akpabio assured of the PDP's support to policies of the present administration, which were aimed at taking the country out of recession but, however, said that the party would not support any policy that would plunge the country into depression.

Surprisingly, ‎the immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and members of his Cabinet, a Presidential aspirant of the Party in the 2019 elections, its serving and former Governors as well as leaders stormed the Eagle Square, venue of the Convention is a grand style. I don't need to talk about whether we have come back. But to God be the glory, we have had the marvellous opportunity of understanding ourselves better, identifying our mistakes, suffering the painful consequences of defeat and learning the lesson of a lifetime. They can now compare and contrast. We have done well from the time of Obasanjo to Yaradua and to my time. To build a solid team, we must be warm and inviting; the love for impunity and exclusion must cease.

"The only way the black race can have respect is for Nigeria to have a stable democracy and the only thing that shows democracy is the legislature".

"We all represent democracy and that is what the PDP stands for".

Akpabio assured party members who had defected to other parties and anyone willing to join the party that its doors were open to accommodate them. It's time, brothers and sisters, to come back home!

The delegates agreed that the crises in the states should be resolved within the period but prior to the congresses.

Senator Ahmed Makarfi had on August 10 said that efforts were ongoing to settle the dispute between two purported factions of the party in the south-west region - Eddy Olafeso led faction and Makanjuola Ogundipe's faction.
