Two killed in police helicopter crash near Virginia white nationalist rally

WCAV reported the crash occurred on Old Farm Road.

Virginia State Police confirmed the deaths in a statement. At least one person was killed and 19 injured when a auto plowed into a group of counter-protesters. In a video by The Daily Caller, it was first stated that a helicopter had gone down in Charlottesville.

State police would not say if the helicopter had been involved in monitoring the clashes between alt-right demonstrators and counter protesters ahead of the scheduled Unite the Right rally downtown. The FAA said it is investigating the crash and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine its probable cause. Images from the scene showed part of an aircraft in a tree.

Other reports are saying the chopper went down near the Birdwood Golf Course and there were two fatalities.

This happened just a short drive outside of Charlottesville where multiple people were injured and one person killed Saturday during various altercations resulting from "pro-white" protests that were taking place there. Both people on-board the helicopter died in the crash.
