Nigeria's Buhari vows to intensify war on militants

Nigeria's Buhari vows to intensify war on militants

Meanwhile, President Buhari's Special Assistant on Media has revealed that Mr. Buhari could be heading back to the United Kingdom for medical treatment, a decision many Nigerians have criticized, especially in the light of his failure to disclose his diagnosis.

"Terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that we can live in peace and safety", said the 74-year-old retired Army General and former head of the military government.

Buhari first left for medical leave in Britain this year in January, staying for almost two months.

While appreciating God for Buhari's safe return, the lawmaker said that God answered the prayers of Nigerians while the President was away. During his absence, it was his vice, Yemi Osinbajo, who led the country.

Mr Inibehe Effiong, a human right activist urged President Muhammadu Buhari to refocus and redouble his fight against corruption, adding that the task ahead was enormous.

The association, is however, calling on the president to replicate in Nigeria the facilities he benefited from in London as soon as possible.

ABUJA- PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, held a closed-door meeting with the Vice President, Prof.

NAN reports that Buhari arrived Nigeria from London where he went for medical examination since May 7, the day he received the 82 Chibok Girls released from Boko Haram captivity.

Meanwhile, the president may be operating from home in meantime as he awaits renovation work to be effected in his office at the presidential villa.

But Premium Times quoted IYC leader, Eric Omare, as disagreeing with Buhari on Monday, by saying that Nigeria's corporate existence as one nation of multicultural groups remains unsettled and negotiable.

While commending Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for being so committed and faithful to his boss, Okorocha said, "The impact of the president's return is that it will rejuvenate the economy, polity".

The president had left Nigeria for London on May 7 for treatment of an undisclosed ailment. Has the future of the future leaders of our country sunk so low in the estimation of our current leaders that the issue was considered not important enough to command a mention in the President's address?
