Report Gives Insight Into iPhone 8's Face Matching Speed

The existence of a facial recognition feature was confirmed in firmware for the upcoming HomePod.

With 2017 marking the 10 years iPhone has been of service to the world, it's not surprising that Apple has something great in store this coming fall.

It seems only yesterday when the iPhone 7 and 7 plus were released, which in September 16 of a year ago. At that time, we should see the arrival of the 5.8-inch iPhone 8 alongside the 4.7-inch "iPhone 7s" and 5.5-inch "iPhone 7s Plus".

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) last issued its quarterly earnings results on Tuesday, August 1st.

The report is primarily concerned with speculating over the iPhone 8's screen shape, and cites only "a source familiar with the matter". Not much is expected to change on the design front, apart from the few tweaks like a glass back on the 7S. According to other sources, the wireless charging technology feature of the iPhone 8 will only be facilitated by a separate accessory that is not included in the box once the device is released.

This led to concern as to whether the technology could conveniently replace Touch ID, but the leaked information suggests that Apple is working hard to make sure that the iPhone's sensors will be able to securely identify a user's face quickly and at various angles.

A new iPhone 8 report from Korea provides some of the same details mentioned in previous leaks, but also an interesting tidbit about one of the iPhone's newest rumored tricks, the facial recognition system. In the new leaks, iPhone's display was shown along with the display assembly and flex cable. They now have a $176.00 target price on the iPhone maker's stock. The iPhone 7 in 32 GB retails at around $649, and while this is already hefty, everyone can expect the iPhone 8 to start selling at around $1,200.

Nearly 20 years after turning down flat-screen technology developed by entrepreneurs Steven Abramson and Sidney Rosenblatt, Apple has moved to finally embrace their technology for its forthcoming new iPhone 8. We could be merely weeks away from the big unveiling and Apple could be ready announce the date of this event sometime in the very near future. This prove to be the actual display and it reveals a long-standing rumor that the new handset will feature an edge-to-edge display.
