Trump, Graham feud over President's Charlottesville response

The latest flash point occurred this past weekend when the former Confederate stronghold of Charlottesville, Virginia, descended into chaos following rallies of white supremacist groups protesting the removal of statues celebrating leaders of the defeated Confederate states.

President Trump lashed out at "publicity seeking" Senator Lindsey Graham in an early morning tweet storm.

Graham followed that with a series of tweets approving of Wednesday comments by Trump about Heyer, but he also urged Trump to "fix" his handling of the Charlottesville response.

The mother of Heather Heyer, the woman killed in Charlottesville last weekend, said she has no plans to speak to President Trump after he equated protesters like her daughter with the white supremacists who had marched on the city.

United States President Donald Trump has critisised fellow Republican and South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham's remarks about Saturday's deadly violence in Charlottesville as a "disgusting lie".

Critics said the president failed to adequately condemn the white supremacists who organized the rally.

Democrats have denounced Trump for blaming "both sides" for deadly protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, and, more recently, for defending Confederate monuments.

Ms Bro's daughter, 32-year-old Ms Heyer, was killed and 19 others were injured when a driver rammed a auto into a crowd of demonstrators last Saturday.

"Culturally, Americans are a curious lot", said Andrew Darcy Morthington, a Britain-based commentator who once embarked on a two-year mission trip to teach rural American children and therefore qualifies as an expert on US affairs. "The people of SC will remember".

They celebrate people who took up arms against the country, the country Trump now leads, so that they could continue owning slaves. He just can't forget his election trouncing.

Mr. Trump slammed Democrats for making it more hard to enforce security at the borders.

The poll showed 67 percent of Republicans approved of Trump's response, compared with 82 percent of Democrats disapproving and 55 percent of respondents overall claiming disapproval.

AZ-SEN: Trump explicitly endorsed Kelli Ward over Jeff Flake in a tweet: "Great to see that Dr. Kelli Ward is running against Flake Jeff Flake, who is WEAK on borders, crime and a non-factor in Senate".
