NPFL 2017 : Plateau Utd crowned champions after 2-0 victory over Rangers

"I will give it to Plateau United because they are rounding off at home".

Former Nigeria youth global, Waidi Akanni, has joined many Nigerians in celebrating new champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Plateau United, saying the Jos based team deserved the title following their consistency during the season. Can MFM survive the El-Kanemi cauldron to snatch the title?

They were presented their with their prize after the win over Rangers, with home fans going wild in celebration of their first ever NPFL title.

The Flying Antelopes who were champions last season stormed the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos to fight for their Premier League status next term in the Nigeria's top flight.

Both Plateau United and MFM will automatically represent Nigeria at the CAF Champions Cup. And you find clubs giving coaches two to three games ultimatum. If you ask many coaches about their salaries you would find out that they are owing them.

"We should not expect anything from Plateau and MFM in the Champions League because to be honest the standard of the Nigerian league is poor and that is what is reflecting on our clubs' performance in CAF club competitions", Kpakor lamented. They are just one point away from grabbing the League shield.

Also, heavy defeats at IfeanyiUbah, Nasarawa United and Niger Tornadoes didn't help their title aspirations. The talk centered on the big guns Rangers International and Enyimba who have won the title seven times apiece as well as Rivers United that recruited some of the best talents in the country plus a pre-season in Spain.

"We have had rough paths this season but this has toughened us and if we have another chance to right our wrongs, we shall do everything to ensure that Rangers are back among the top clubs in Nigeria next season".
