Divisive politics ruining India's reputation overseas: Rahul

Further addressing the gathering Gandhi spoke about agriculture, terming it to be a strategic asset of our country.

Gandhi's call came during an interaction with NRIs at the iconic Times Square on Wednesday at the end of a two week-long speaking tour of the United States, which many say has helped raise his political profile and emerge from his usually reticent style.

On the Congress ousted from power by Modi in 2014, he said: "Same people who got angry with us are going to get angry with Modi. There are forces in our country that is dividing the country and it is very unsafe for our country and it ruins our reputation abroad". According to Economic Times, the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family has said that these days people question him about the fast depleting peace and harmony in the country.

"The single biggest thing most people told me and the questions raised outside India is what has happened to the tolerance that used to prevail in India?" Here we take a look at all the political bombs he hurled at Modi from the US. "So, we can not afford to lose our most powerful asset. We need to build agriculture, we need to develop cold chain, we need to put food processing plants near farms and we need to empower Indian agriculture", he said.

"Reason they have been able to do so are the ideas of Congress", he added.

In a veiled attack on BJP, Rahul Gandhi said that "divisive forces " are tarnishing India's reputation in the world.

Pitroda, who has taken over the NRI mission of the Congress as the chairman of its Overseas Department, organised Rahul Gandhi's USA visit. "That is the Congress idea". Today, only 450 of them are getting a job. "This is the biggest challenge before our country". And, this challenge is going to be addressed by building a unified approach by bringing people together."India simply can not give its youngsters a vision if it is unable to give them a job". He said: "There is a huge migration from villages to cities, but we can not give jobs to such a large number of people in the service sector". I want to invite you to work with Congress to discuss the vision for going forward. Most Congress sympathizers in the country have been more vocal in the academic circles and media, and Gandhi aims to bring them to the forefront through this visit.

Outside the event venue, a small group of Sikhs held a protest against the Congress Party's role in the 1984 riots.
