Fourteen sheds are being made on the land allocated for the newly arrived people, Chowdhury said adding that the United Nations refugee and food agencies had been providing supports.

The U.S. has given almost $100 million in humanitarian aid to assist Myanmar's displaced population over the past year, according to State Department officials.

The latest unrest in the troubled Rakhine state was sparked by attacks on police stations across the state last month, blamed on a newly emerged militant group, the Arsa.

In a nationally televised speech in her country Tuesday, Aung San Suu Kyi noted her country does not fear global scrutiny, and she offered her assurance that any human rights violations or "acts that impair stability and harmony" will be dealt with "in accordance with strict norms of justice". This hostile view of Rohingyas came to be formalised under Myanmar's erstwhile military junta.

Leaders and diplomats from several countries have since expressed strong disappointment with her stance.

London said on Tuesday it had "deep concern" about human rights abuses and would not be resuming the military courses unless there was an "acceptable resolution" to the ongoing Rohingya crisis.

The exodus followed a military crackdown in response to coordinated attacks by Rohingya militants on security forces.

South Korea plans to provide the aid through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to help the refugees in Bangladesh, it also said.

The Rohingya are denied citizenship in Myanmar and are widely despised.

The brutal repression of the Muslim minority by state security forces has so far left over 1,000 dead and forced more than 400,000 of the impoverished community to flee to neighboring Bangladesh.

"There are elephants in the forest, close to the place where many Rohingya refugees are clearing forest to make huts, police official Chailau Murma said. I ask who will take care of those three lakh refugees?" he added.

The Indian government has told the country's top court that some of the Rohingya who have fled Myanmar are a serious security threat, as it sought to justify moves to deport up to 40,000 of the community from India.

According to a Reuters report of 14 August, Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju told Parliament that the Centre had directed state authorities to identify and deport illegal immigrants, including Rohingyas, who face persecution in Buddhist-majority Myanmar.
