Man Shot by Officer After Altercation at Huntington Beach 7-Eleven

A man was lethally injured in an officer-included shooting that was caught on video outside a 7-Eleven in Huntington Beach on Friday morning, police said.

Angela Bennett, a public information officer with the HBPD, told LAist that the encounter happened at around 9:30 a.m. this morning, outside the 7-Eleven by the corner of Edinger Avenue and Springdale Street. Then an officer-involved shooting occurred and the male was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, police spokeswoman Officer Angie Bennett said.

A video tweeted by @Cali_Funk1 shows a police shooting in Huntington Beach on September 22, 2017. Then a seventh shot is fired and the man stumbles backward and collapses on his side.

Another 17-second video shared on Twitter by the witness shows a burst of six gun shots that left the man staggering.

Nearby Marina High School was placed on lockdown due to the incident.

It isn't clear whether the man was armed.

The man, who has not been distinguished, was taken to a healing facility, Bennett said. There are no other outstanding suspects.
