Darren Sproles With Torn ACL And Broken Arm

Darren Sproles With Torn ACL And Broken Arm

The Philadelphia Eagles believe running back Darren Sproles broke his arm during Sunday's game against the New York Giants, a league source confirmed. Sproles likely would have returned this season if just for the broken arm, but the ACL tear means his 2017 is finished.

Sproles will have an MRI done on Monday to determine the extent of the injury and a potential timetable for his return.

Sproles took a shot from Giants safety Darian Thompson in the backfield on a run before Thompson's foot flailed and got a piece of Sproles' wrist.

There is better news about defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (calf) and middle linebacker Jordan Hicks (ankle).

At one point, Sproles had said this season would be his last. Sproles, still the team's most dynamic weapon, nearly certainly is lost for the season. He is first among active players in kick and punt return yards (11,142), which is seventh all-time.

Sproles, 34, rushed for 61 yards in 15 attempts (4.1 yards per carry) this season and caught seven passes for 73 yards. Blount matched Smallwood with 12 carries and had 67 yards. He has made the Pro Bowl the past three years in a row as a returner.
